| British rising star Alex Lynn has joined Prema Powerteam to compete in European Formula 3 in 2013.
Eye Respect will continue our long standing sponsorship of Alex and we look forward to him becoming one of the best there is out there.
Lynn, who finished fourth in the British Formula 3 International Series with one race win this year, will race a Mercedes-powered Dallara with the Italian team. The 19-year-old has made the move after a successful test with Prema at the Vallelunga circuit near Rome. Prema will be attacking a third consecutive championship-winning season in 2013, having taken honours with Roberto Merhi (in 2011) and Daniel Juncadella (2012). “We wanted to do Europe, and it’s really hard to ignore what Prema have done in that,” said Alex. “When I did the test with them I was really impressed.” The switch means a move away from Fortec Motorsport, with which whom Lynn has driven since his first steps in car racing. This included his major title to date – victory in the 2011 Formula Renault UK Championship – as well as his rookie F3 campaign. “It’s hard for me to imagine life without Fortec,” he said. “I’m 19 now and I’ve been with them since I started testing Formula BMWs when I was 15. But I needed to take a decision like this to move me out of my comfort zone. It’s going to make things a little bit harder with a foreign team and I will need to raise my game to perform, but I have to push myself now if I want to go very far in motor racing. “No doubt I will have some cracking team-mates and we can all learn from each other and do a good job together.” "In the meantime, I'm really looking forward to my first trip to Macau this weekend. I'd obviously like to thank Richard Dutton and all the guys at Fortec who have worked so hard to look after me for the last few years – they've been amazing." Lynn, who is a member of the FIA Institute Young Driver Excellence Academy, the MSA’s Team UK and the British Racing Drivers Club’s SuperStars programme, makes his final start with Fortec in this weekend’s Macau Grand Prix. He then starts his new life as a Prema driver in December with an intensive testing programme. Prema has 30 years of unbroken experience in Formula 3. The team, founded by Angelo Rosin, first raced in the Italian championship in 1983 and has since launched future stars including Dindo Capello, Fabrizio Giovanardi, JacquesVilleneuve, Robert Kubica, Ryan Briscoe and Kamui Kobayashi. While Rosin remains team principal, his son Rene is now the team manager of Prema’s European F3 squad. “Rene is a top guy and manages the team superbly,” said Alex. “It seems like a really professional environment to be around. I’m going to enjoy the challenge in 2013 – it will be a lot of fun.” |
Eye Respect was born out of a desire to pay homage to the long and distinguished histories of English & Italian culture, style and standards of craftsmanship.
From our mutual obsessions with design and quality comes a harmonious understanding of “sprezzatura”; The effortless combination of style and attention to detail that are inherent in both cultures. This makes our approach to the personal aspects within our lifestyles refined and meaningful.
Referencing key landmarks in Anglo-Italian style, the collection is a reflection of the exacting standards both cultures eschew. From the traditional to the contemporary, with a strong heritage influence, Eye Respect collections attract a broad selection of both traditional professionals and sub-cultured tribes.
Eye Respect frames are designed by hand and manufactured by hand. Iconic Modfather Paul Weller did an intimate gig at John Varvatos to celebrate 10 years.
There is no bigger music fan in fashion than John Varvatos, who's turned that love into relationships with a number of rock stars, from Chris Cornell and Dave Matthews to Alice Cooper, all of whom have played outside of Varvatos' West Hollywood store. Last night, his newest model, Paul Weller, came in to the WeHo spot to help Varvatos celebrate his 10-year anniversary at the location.
Before the show, Varvatos introduced Weller as one of his biggest influences, both musically and in fashion. In an interview with Rolling Stone earlier this year Varvatos said, "Paul has always been this super-cool, stylish guy, from the first time I saw him with the Jam in 1977 to today. He's probably one of the best-dressed, best-looking guys in rock & roll."
Perhaps fired up by Varvatos' continuous praise, Weller, who plays L.A.'s Greek Theater this Friday in his last U.S. show in 2012, led his three-piece band through an hourlong set at maximum volume for a celebrity crowd that included Jakob Dylan, Twilight's Jackson Rathbone and Matt Sorum and Dave Kushner of Velvet Revolver.
Opening with the Jam's "Running on the Spot," Weller worked in songs from all phases of his career, from the Jam and the Style Council to his solo work. The majority of the 17-song set came from his two most recent solo efforts, 2010's Wake Up the Nation and the current Sonik Kicks, with some of those standouts being "The Attic," "That Dangerous Age," a raucous "Wake Up the Nation" and the closer "Around the Lake."
For diehard Weller fans, there were some surprises, the most notable being the Jam's "Carnation" and "Start!" as well as "The Cost of Loving," the only selection from his Style Council days. Of course, for diehard Weller fans, the set list didn't matter nearly as much as seeing such an influential figure in the intimate setting of a storefront.
In The United Kindom, Ireland, Spain and The Netherlands, John Varvatos is available from Eye Respect Ltd.

About AM Eyewear
For as long as he can remember Simon (Kumar) Ponnusamy has sought out frames
which pushed and redefined what was fashionable and at the same time didn’t
become so popular they were seen on every face he passed.
The irony that AM Eyewear sunglasses are regularly spotted on everyone from
hipster kids to Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Gwen Stefani, Rihanna, Sienna Miller and Jay Z,
is not lost on Ponnusamy -‐ AM’s Designer and Director.
From its inception eight years ago AM Eyewear has evolved from a cheeky young
upstart into a cult brand respected around the globe.
AM Eyewear has grown its reputation both in Australia and internationally through
its commitment to cutting edge designs crafted from the highest quality materials.
Ever since the first five-‐frame collection debuted in 2003 Ponnusamy has been
unwavering in his desire to combine quality with individuality.
Each new collection is reflective of Ponnusamy’s many sources of inspiration. From
his fast-‐paced life traveling and mingling with some of the worlds biggest rock stars
to his mother’s collection of vintage sunglasses and photos from her days in the
fashion industry.

“I work in the old, organic way,” says Ponnusamy.
“I design using only a pad and pencil in order to feel each line of the frame. It takes a
lot longer than using a computer because I’m forever erasing and then remarking the
page until I get it right. But I just love the way this allows the frame to slowly come
alive as I get to know every line intimately.
The artisan approach continues beyond Ponnusamy who engages master craftsmen
to carve each sample out of a solid piece of acetate much in the same way an old
sculptor whittles wood.
“Once we’ve perfected the master copy it heads to the production workshop where
each pair is individually handcrafted for up to 14 hours,” says Ponnusamy.
The evolution of each AM Eyewear frame continues well beyond the workshop.
Once out of the box the Italian acetate frames mold to the wearers face -‐ much in
the same way as a bespoke pair of leather boots.
“People make these frames,” says Ponnusamy. “They are designed by hand, crafted
by hand, polished by hand. They are packed by hand and they are only ever
complete once you have worn them.”
Attitude. Commitment. Quality.
